Kansai-Hiroshima pass: voucher, collection and seat reservations

Buying a pass, receiving it and reserving a seat are different steps. The route depends on where you buy. Use this checklist before paying, then follow the instructions for the exact product and seller you choose.
First, check that this is the right pass
The adult Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass is ¥17,000 for five consecutive calendar days. It covers the Sanyo Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Hiroshima and the JR Miyajima Ferry in its valid area; the Miyajima visitor tax is separate. It does not cover the Tokaido Shinkansen from Kyoto to Shin-Osaka. Foreign-government passport and Temporary Visitor requirements apply. JR-West coverage and eligibility
Put the activation date and the last covered date on your plan before paying. A cheaper unsuitable product is not a useful alternative.
Travel agency or reseller: receive the pass before travel
An exchange voucher is not the rail pass you use at the gate. JR-West's E-Ticket instructions require exchange before boarding. Check the reception stations for your product. The supported machine process uses the E-Ticket QR code or exchange number and your passport; a ticket office is needed if the passport cannot be read. JR-West E-Ticket exchange guide
Klook's product FAQ describes a voucher and the original passport as items for redemption. Check the package-specific instructions and confirmation you actually receive; do not substitute JR-West online purchase instructions for a reseller order. Klook product instructions
For an agency exchange order, arrange the seat reservation after exchange. The online reservation process available to a JR-West online purchaser is a different route. Official purchase-channel and reservation conditions
JR-West online: keep the collection information
JR-West's own prepaid online process lists the reservation number, four-digit identification number, payment card and passport for collection. Its online seat-reservation option applies to passes booked through that service. Confirm the supported card and collection method before buying. JR-West online purchase and collection
Your before-payment checklist
- The exact pass name, traveler eligibility and covered journeys
- Activation date and all travel dates inside or outside the five-day window
- The seller's final total, currency and fees
- The voucher or reservation information you will receive
- A supported collection location and time before the train
- The seat-reservation process, actual availability and luggage needs
- The seller's change, cancellation and refund terms
A voucher purchase does not guarantee a seat on a particular departure. Reserve before boarding when using a reserved seat, and allow time for collection. Keep your booking confirmation accessible without relying on mobile reception at the station.
